Dirty Water
Deon: Glen Innes C.C.
Mixed media.
This drawing was created when I first came into gaol and a maximum security gaol when it was hard to get any art supplies. So skin tones were tea and coffee. A few colour pencils were obtained and used. The girl's hair is coloured with squeezed tomato (the pips are still there). Boy's hair is created with bristles from a broom. This style of art is a drawing coloured with whatever I could get my hands on in "MAXO" gaol in Grafton and Cessnock. It is a drawing of myself and my wife. The drawing and poem create feelings of love, hopelessness, hope, forgiveness as we were both trying to make a change for the better when I was arrested and gaoled. We were both trying to make a new start and not drinking dirty water. My vision upon my release is to remain a contributing part of society and stay gaol free. I ask my partner for forgiveness and I want to be forgiven by society and turn over a new leaf. I am determined to make art and poetry a focus in my life. Maybe even starting to sell my paintings so I don't commit any further crimes. And stop stealing mountain bikes.

Swimming amongst the stars.

Painting
As a child I would sleep in a swag and watch the stars. When I get anxious I like to be in the water. The most peaceful place to be is under the stars, in the water.

With faith... will give you peace.
Anonymous: Southern Queensland C.C.
Painting
A crying lady representing myself and everyone in the world. Pain and crying never ending. Unseen bruises are still hurting. Symbols and words represent trauma and pain. At time you may feel that God is not there. He is. Catching the teardrops. Trust the Lord and he will give you peace.
